CHRIS TURNER

“What he achieved at Posh was just incredible, particularly as a manager. He lifted
the club out of the doldrums and put it firmly on the map. Posh have had success
since, but Chris started the ball rolling and I was fortunate to be around him through a
                                     fantastic period for the club.

“He could be a ruthless bugger, but he was a loveable bugger. He did things like
dropping players for the right reason and he had the character and the personality to
pull anything off. Chris was known as a tough man, but he also had a heart. He was
brilliant with me and my family in my time at Posh. He was far more thoughtful than
                                     people gave him credit for.

“He was also a better coach than many people realised. He was strict with us, but
he knew how to play to get the best out of the players he had. His man management
was the best I ever knew. To be honest it was a big, sad loss when Chris started to go
downhill as he obviously wasn’t the same man, but now he’s passed it’s really sunk in
what a great man he was.

“His achievements should never be forgotten.”
                                     Mick Halsall

“A big strong centre back in his playing days, he was an
‘old school’ manager who created a tremendous team
spirit and desire to win within the squad.

“In his later years it was tragic to see such a giant of a
man laid low by illness, but his wife Lynne was always
by his side as he battled against his disease. He stayed
in contact with friends from his playing and management
days and I know his contribution to the game will be
suitably recognised by the people of Peterborough.”
